Fashion Design Team — Moody Mamas

Marta Abrams and Elise Rosemarin are the creators of Moody Mamas, an innovative and luxurious motherhood brand. Moody Mamas' designs and unique silhouettes bring a fashion forward edge to the maternity market. Inspired by a close friend who was pregnant at the time, Marta and Elise are passionate about their ultimate goal—to create a line that celebrates the beauty of motherhood and the thrill associated with this time in life.

Marta, originally from Texas, studied fashion in London under designer, Matthew Williamson. She moved to Los Angeles and immediately began working for Rosetta Getty's popular line, Riser Goodwyn. Elise is from New York and studied business at Vanderbilt University. An entrepreneurial spirit, she wanted to embrace her creative passion for design while fulfilling her desire to be a business owner. When the two met, they immediately knew that they would be close friends and that they would work together.

Having never been pregnant before, Elise and Marta knew that it was imperative to do an abundant amount of research before taking on such a difficult task. To get a better understanding of the maternity market, they enrolled in pre-natal yoga and Lamaze classes, interviewed many pregnant/nursing women, consulted with a slew of OB-GYNS and pediatricians, and even wore fake bellies to give them the "sense of being pregnant." One year later in April 2007, they successfully completed their version of "maternity boot-camp." It was on that fateful day that they emerged with a new found awareness of pregnancy and were eager to begin designing. Having familiarized themselves with the world of motherhood, they now understood why it was their duty to help women feel beautiful during this exciting yet often difficult period.

In fall of 2008, Moody Mamas launched its inaugural line of loungewear and gift items. Popular with celebrities such as Jessica Alba and Tori Spelling, Moody Mamas has received considerable success and is in over 65 boutiques nationwide. Currently, Moody Mamas is collaborating with Project Runway winner, Christian Siriano, for its entry into the maternity ready-to-wear market. Set to debut in spring 2009, "Fierce for Moody Mamas by Christian Siriano," is already being met with great anticipation. Moody Mamas hopes that with its expansion into ready-to-wear, it will garner additional success and will allow it to one day become a lifestyle motherhood brand.
